This is a guide to Creative Specifications for Feathr Ad Campaigns.
For tips and best practices around the content of your creatives, read Best Practices for Creatives.
File Size:
The maximum file size of each creative that can be uploaded to Feathr is 200MB (exceptions for Facebook campaigns, see below). The Max file size for image files being served by Google is 4MB.
File Format: Feathr accepts .png, .jpg, .gif, and video files.
Web Banners
Feathr's digital ad campaigns support a wide variety of ad creative dimensions. However, there are often time or labor constraints that affect how many different sizes of creative your organization can produce. At a minimum, for any non-Geofencing Ad Campaign, we recommend producing creatives in the following three sizes:
- 300 x 250 (6:5)
- 728 x 90 (8:1)
- 160 x 600 (1:4)
For Geofencing campaigns, the minimum recommended sizes to include are:
- 300 x 50 (6:1)
- 300 x 250 (6:5)
- 320 x 50 (6.4:1)
You can design your creatives in the appropriate aspect ratio but at larger sizes. Feathr will convert them to the correct size automatically. Additionally, Feathr can convert any uploaded creative into other suitable dimensions that share its aspect ratio to improve the reach of your campaigns.
Universal Ad Package Compliant Sizes
The Universal Ad Package is a set of five web banner creative sizes that are accepted and available almost universally across the web. We highly recommend including these sizes in your Ad Campaign. The sizes are (in pixels, width x height):
- 300 x 250 (6:5)
- 728 x 90 (8:1)
- 160 x 600 (1:4)
- 180 x 150 (6:5)
- 125 x 125 (1:1)
IAB Rising Stars
While these sizes are less commonly available as ad inventory, their larger size makes a visual impact. We recommend adding creatives in these sizes only once you've already added the more common sizes listed above, and only if you have design bandwidth to spare. The sizes are (in pixels, width x height):
- 970 x 250 (3.88:1)
- 300 x 600 (1:2)
- 320 x 250 (1.28:1)
- 300 x 1050 (2:7)
- 970 x 90 (10.78:1)
Geofence Campaign sizes
Because Geofence campaigns (not Historical Geofence Campaigns*) target people on their mobile devices and tablets, you should only use creatives that will appear on those size devices. Although Geofencing campaigns have slightly different size requirements, the same file formats mentioned above are supported. The best Geofence creative sizes are listed below. Due to limitations in the Bannersnack engine Feathr uses in its creatives builder, Bannersnack creatives cannot be used directly in Geofencing campaigns. You can, however, download your Bannersnack creatives as .jpg or .png files and upload them into your Geofencing campaigns.
Geofencing sizes are (in pixels, width x height):
- 300 x 50 (6:1)
- 300 x 250 (6:5)
- 320 x 50 (6.4:1)
- 320 x 480 (2:3)
- 336 x 280 (6:5)
- 168 x 28 (6:1)
Note: Because they are mobile-only, Geofencing campaigns cannot support AdTag creatives.
*Because Historical Geofence Campaigns retarget people after they have left the geofenced area, the creative sizes do not need to be optimized for mobile. The audience may be browsing from any device after they have left the geotargeted area, not only mobile devices.

Meta Campaign creatives
There are stricter content requirements for Meta creatives than general display creatives. Be sure to familiarize yourself with those requirements before designing ads to use on Meta platforms, or you risk having your ads rejected during Meta's review process. Text should comprise less than 20% of the total image area of the creative or video thumbnail. We've bolded our recommended resolutions in the tables below. Meta sizes are (in pixels, width x height):

Common Questions
Why isn't my creative uploading?
You may be getting an error when uploading a creative if it's not a supported size. Be sure to double check the size of the ad to make sure it's one of the sizes mentioned above. If you are not seeing the window to upload creatives at all, disable pop-up blockers and refresh.
Where do I add my Facebook creatives?
If you're launching a Facebook campaign, make sure you've selected a Facebook Retargeting campaign, not a Retargeting campaign. Follow the steps for launching a Facebook campaign, and you will be directed to upload your Facebook sized creatives, just like you would in an Ad campaign.
Can I use HTML5 ads?
The Feathr bannersnack editor can be used to create HTML5 banner ads directly in your account. You can also use Ad Tags instead of standard creatives, as long as they resolve to HTML5 ad tag creatives. While we can't accept the raw HTML5 assets that would be used to create such Ad Tags, tools like Google Web Designer and Creatopy can be used to import Ad Tags. Learn how to use Ad Tags in Feathr campaigns in this article.
