This article details how to customize the subscription preference options in Feathr's Email Marketing campaigns. Keep in mind that it is your responsibility to adhere to all applicable email communication regulations. Please refer to our Privacy section for best practices, and, if necessary, consult your own legal counsel to ensure compliance for your organization.
Recipient Preferences
The goal of Feathr's Email Marketing tools is to help your organization send the right message to the right audience and move them to act. We all know that no matter how great your message is, sometimes a recipient would prefer less email communication, so we've made it easy to provide a way to opt-out. Every Email Marketing campaign includes your organizations' sender info and a link to update recipient preferences automatically.
It will populate at the bottom of your message, and will look something like this:
When a recipient clicks the link to update their preferences, they will land on a page with options to subscribe or unsubscribe to all communications from your account, as well as options to opt in or out of communications for individual Feathr Projects.
How to edit the Physical Address in email campaigns
1. Go to your Feathr dashboard and begin a new email campaign or edit an existing one.
2. Navigate to Step 1 of the campaign setup, where you’ll see Company Name and Address fields.
3. Edit the Company Name and Address as needed to reflect current and accurate information.
4. Continue campaign setup. The updated info will automatically populate the email footer.
Why the Footer Cannot Be Removed
To comply with laws such as CAN-SPAM, Feathr requires a permanent footer in every email communication. This enforces transparency and accountability for all digital marketing efforts by nonprofits, protecting your organization and your audience.
Edit Account Subscription Label
By default, the name of your general email subscription will match the name of your Feathr account. To change the display name to something different, start by logging into Feathr and navigating to Profile & Settings > Account Settings > Subscriptions.
Here you will see a preview of exactly what your email recipients see when clicking the link in one of your emails to manage their subscription level. It will include an unsubscribe all checkbox, as well as individual subscriptions levels for each Project in your account. (More about the Project-level subscriptions below.)
If you'd like to change the name of your overall email subscription, enter the new name in the field labeled edit account subscription label. You will see the preview update. That is exactly what your email recipients will see when they click the link to manage their subscriptions from your organization.
Leaving that field blank will keep the default name.
Edit Custom Project Subscription Label
Every Project you create in Feathr is also its own email subscription level. This allows your email recipients to choose on a more detailed basis which types of emails they receive from your organization.
Like the account subscription label, the Project subscription label defaults to the name you or another Feathr user on your account gave the Project. Because Project names are sometimes more appropriate for internal view only, you also have the option to update the label your recipients see for each Project.
To update a Project-level subscription label, log in to Feathr, navigate to the intended Project, and choose Settings, which will bring you to the Project Information Settings. Find the field named custom email subscription label and update it to the display name you wish to use. Be sure to scroll to the bottom and click save changes before navigating away.
Manual Subscription Management
You may also directly import an opt-out list. Refer to this article for instructions.
Re-Subscribing an Unsubscribed Person
If an audience member unsubscribed in the past but now requests to resubscribe, find the existing audience record by Email address in your Community Database. You can choose which Projects to resubscribe the audience member to within the person record.
Email Not Sent
Feathr tracks the reasons why emails may have been unsuccessful in getting to an intended recipient. In the Community Database, use Filters to create Groups of audience members that have not received emails by campaign. This allows you to keep an eye on the health of your email subscription list and identify any outlying reasons your audience may not be receiving your emails.
