What is Meta?
Meta is a technology company best known as the parent of Facebook and Instagram. Together, these platforms have nearly 5 billion users.
Why use Meta advertising with Feathr?
Meta platforms offer marketers extensive reach. With Feathr, you can advertise on Meta by selecting Meta Advertising as a channel in a Pixl+ campaign, alongside or instead of Display Advertising. That gives you two ways to reach people on Facebook and Instagram: your own first-party audience — the same Groups and email lists you'd target with retargeting or email mapping elsewhere in Feathr — and, if you'd rather grow your reach, third-party audiences based on demographic and interest data.
For a full breakdown of how Pixl+ campaigns work and how to choose between Display and Meta Advertising as channels, see Feathr Ads Campaign Types Explained.
Before you can run Meta advertising through Feathr, you'll need to connect your Meta account. For step-by-step instructions, see How to Integrate Meta with Feathr.
Pixl+ Campaigns
Pixl+ is the campaign type that powers Meta advertising in Feathr, and it can draw on several audience sources at once:
- Retargeting — reach people who've already visited your site, tracked through your Feathr Super Pixel (your Groups).
- Email mapping — reach people on an email list you upload, matched to their Meta and web identities.
- Expansion (3rd-party) audiences — reach new people beyond your own first-party data, filtered by demographic, interest, and geographic targeting. Once a source audience exceeds 5,000 people, you can also add lookalike audiences with similar characteristics.
- Retargeting + email mapping, combined — layer your site visitors and your uploaded list into the same campaign for your widest first-party reach.
For any Pixl+ campaign, you choose Display Advertising, Meta Advertising, or both as the delivery channel(s) — Meta Advertising is what puts your ads on Facebook and Instagram specifically. Note that expansion (3rd-party) audiences require a Feathr Plus license; Feathr Lite accounts can still build Pixl+ campaigns using retargeting and email mapping audiences.

Meta Creatives
When designing creatives for Meta campaigns, be aware (or pass the info along to your designer) that Meta properties require different creative sizes. Facebook and Instagram sizes are interchangeable with each other, but not with standard sizes for the general web.

FAQ
Q: Why don't my other Feathr campaigns display on Meta? A: Meta operates its own ad management system and web properties, separate from the open web. To reach audiences on Facebook and Instagram, select Meta Advertising as a channel when you build a Pixl+ campaign, rather than relying on a standard campaign type.
Q: Can Feathr do Reels/Carousels/Instagram Story ads? A: Yes — specifications for each placement are provided in the creative specs above.
Q: Can I use video creatives? A: Yes. Refer to the Ad Creative Specifications article for full details.
Q: Can I only advertise on Instagram? A: Yes, though you'll need a Facebook Page with a connected Instagram account. Campaign options include Facebook only, Instagram only, or both.
