Feathr Email campaign reports contain a user-selectable toggle switch to toggle between verified and unverified activity. This allows you to choose whether you view all campaign interactions, or filter your report down to just the intended engagement from your target audience. Read more to learn what this means and how you can use the toggle.
Staying a Step Ahead
The technology landscape is constantly evolving, and with that evolution comes changes in data collection and email security. All emails contain a lot of data that isn't necessarily relevant to marketers—data about test clicks, data center activity, and bot interactions.
The "Show Verified Activity" toggle in Feathr email campaign reports allows you to easily filter away any email interactions that aren't direct engagement by your intended target audience.
Feathr takes pride in its ability to adapt to changes in the tech landscape, providing accurate data in a transparent format. That's why the "Show Verified Activity" toggle is user-selectable, giving you a transparent view into the verified and unverified data sets related to your email campaigns.
The toggle represents a major improvement in Feathr's ability to detect and filter out non-intended email engagement.
Using the "Show Verified Activity" Toggle
To use the toggle, navigate to the report of an email campaign (applicable to campaigns published after February 12, 2025 only) and scroll to the Activity Summary. Look for the text saying Show verified activity only and switch it on. This will limit the reported data to just verified human interactions by recipients of email(s) in the campaign.
With the "Show Verified Activity" Toggle Off:
By default, your email campaign reports will have the "show verified activity" toggle off. This will display all tracked data related to your email campaign. This includes all interactions your recipient audience has with your email send, also including test clicks from your recipient audience's email service providers, bot and non-human user clicks, and other corollary interactions.
With the "Show Verified Activity" Toggle On:
Clicking the toggle switch turns it on, limiting the display of data in your campaign report to only verified activity from actual humans in your recipient audience. This only counts opens and clicks that occur post-delivery to verified addresses on your target list, and filters out:
- Activity from IP addresses belonging to known data centers.
- Activity from User Agents claiming to be bots.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my CTR show 100% with the toggle off?
Some emails go to email service providers that test click every link in every email to ensure that the links are legitimate. With the toggle off, these test clicks are included in your report. Switching the toggle on will give you an accurate view of your email engagement from your actual intended recipients.
Why do my numbers drop so significantly with the toggle on?
Nearly all emails, especially marketing emails, receive test clicks, automated activity, and non-human opens and clicks before they ever reach their intended recipient's inbox. This activity usually comes from the recipients' email service providers (ESPs) and is among many safety measures ESPs take to prevent delivery of spam and other unwanted email. The reality is that most emails receive far more test engagement than actual human engagement.
If your numbers drop significantly when switching the verified activity toggle on, that is more a measurement of how much noise is being filtered out than it is a judgment of the success of your email. With more accurate data, you can make more informed decisions.
What campaigns does this apply to?
Only email campaigns published after February 12, 2025 will feature the verified activity toggle. This includes Single Send, Auto Send, and Drip campaigns. The toggle cannot be applied retroactively because data processing is already complete on previous email campaigns.
