For Feathr Advanced package holders, we offer a direct integration with iMIS, an EMS (engagement management system) used by many Feathr customers to manage data.
Integrating your Feathr and iMIS accounts enables automated data reconciliation from iMIS to Feathr, eliminating the need to manually update records in Feathr that have changed in iMIS. There's more benefit to the integration that that, so read on to learn more about what you can do with this integration and how to do it.
NOTE: Before you begin, make sure you are using iMIS Cloud, AKA EMS Enterprise, and check that it is version 20.3.153.344 or above. The integration only works with that version. Also ensure that you are an administrator for your organization's iMIS account.
We also recommend creating the necessary custom fields in Feathr prior to completing this integration. It is not necessary, but it will make the integration smoother.
Begin the integration process by logging into your Feathr account and navigating towards the bottom left to Profile & Settings, then to Integrations.
Once you're on the Integrations page, choose the iMIS tile.
You will be taken to the iMIS integration manager. Note: throughout the integration process, pay close attention to all help text in your Feathr account. The integration process is relatively simple but contains many small steps, and each is important.
Step one asks for the domain to your iMIS account. This is what displays in the URL of your browser when you are logged in and using iMIS. Paste it into the first step:
Once you've pasted your iMIS account domain, click Next. You will be taken to the second screen, which is to configure the Client Application. If you don't know exactly what that means, don't fear, because this article (as well as the in-app instructions) will guide you through each step.
The first part of this screen looks like this:
Before moving on in Feathr, click the button Configure client application in iMIS. That will take you to your iMIS account, where you will be prompted to log in.
Once you've logged in to iMIS, click the right side button labeled + Add client application.
You will be taken to a page allowing you to enter data into several fields, which will create the client application. It will look like this:
The values you will enter into those four fields can be found back on your Feathr page. Note that they correspond exactly:
Next, copy the data from Feathr into its corresponding field into iMIS. Tip: clicking the grey pages icon in each Feathr field will automatically copy the field's data onto your clipboard, then you can press ctrl + V (or command + V on a Mac) to paste it into iMIS. Do not alter any data; copy it exactly as it is displayed in your Feathr account. Click save, and you will see your client application listed in your iMIS page (yours may look slightly different from this):
Next, return to Feathr and navigate to page 3 of the integration by clicking Next at the bottom of the Configure Client Application page. This brings you to the Configure Website Content page.
The instructions for this page are similar to the last. You will be navigating to a section of iMIS and entering the data displayed in the fields in Feathr. Start by clicking Configure website content in iMIS. This takes you back to iMIS. From there, click New in the top row menu, and then Website Content, as seen below:
You will be taken to the iMIS Content Designer, which looks like this:
Just like on the previous page, copy the information in the field Title in Feathr, and paste it into the corresponding field in iMIS. Do the same for Publish file name. Leave Layout it its default state, which is (None).
Next, click the Add Content link toward the bottom of the same iMIS page. This brings up the content gallery in iMIS. Make sure the Content Types folder is displaying, and then click Contact.
Scroll down on the right side menu until you locate Single Sign-On.
Double click Single Sign-On until it opens.
Copy the data you see in the fields in your Feathr account for Single Sign-On name, and Client Application, and paste them respectively into those fields in iMIS (yours may be slightly different):
Next, click on OK in iMIS. Stay in the iMIS Content Designer and click on the tab labeled Properties. Check the following properties to ensure they are active (showing a blue check).
- Content is secure
- Content requires user to log in
Leave any other properties at their default value, whether they are checked or not. Next, click Save & Publish at the bottom of the page.
Next, reload the page using your browser's refresh button, then double click the new website content you created, named FeathrSSO. The Content designer window will appear again. Click on the Generate Full URL button. The input field on the right-hand side of the Generate Full URL button will be populated with your new iMIS publish location URL. Copy the URL and return to the Feathr window.
Paste the URL into the field at the bottom of the Feathr page. The field is labeled Publish location.
You're almost done! The final step is to click the Login with iMIS button on the final page of the Feathr integration:
This will take you to the completed Feathr iMIS integration manager, where you will next map your integrated data fields.
