An API key is a crucial element of any cross-app integration. Before using Zapier or any other Feathr integration, you'll need to generate an API key in Feathr. Continue reading for instructions.
What is an API key?
API, or application programming interface, is a communication interface between software. It is a way to connect one app to another so they can share data. An API key is what unlocks such communication, and it is a required element when integrating Feathr with data from any other software source, such as your CRM.
Feathr uses Zapier to connect with other software apps, and in the Zapier integration steps, you'll need to enter an API key.
Getting your API key
To generate your API key, log in to Feathr, navigate to Profile & Settings, then to Integrations. Under the Integrations tab click API keys. You will see an empty table.
Next, click generate new key and select Zapier as the vendor.
Use the options button in the table to copy the API key to your clipboard. When you navigate away from Feathr to Zapier, you will be prompted there to paste it.
Note that only one API key can be issued at any given time. When the API key is issued, you will see a message on the API Keys page that says 'All available keys issued.'
To generate a new API key, you must first revoke any existing keys. This can be done by clicking options in the API keys table, then selecting 'revoke.'
