The Explore Dashboard is your home base: from Filtering People for insights into their behavior to uploading data. In this article we'll focus primarily on Filtering.

How to navigate to the Explore Dashboard

  1. After logging into Feathr, click 'Explore' in the sidebar to open your Explore Dashboard
  2. All of your People will be displayed. 'People' are the website visitors that are tracked by the Feathr Super Pixel, and individuals you have imported using your own data.

The Explore Dashboard automatically displays Name, Email, Times Seen, Last Seen, Last IP, and Feathr ID. Name and Email will only be visible if you have set your Feathr Super Pixel to pull in that information or if that information was included in a data import. See the Pixel Implementation Guide for more information about setting up your Feathr Super Pixel to pull in this information as well as other Custom Attributes.

What can you do from Explore?

  • Filter People
  • Create Segments
  • Import Data
  • Manage People and Partner Custom Data

Filter People

All of the users tracked via your Super Pixel across your various sites, and any users uploaded via a data import can be found in your Explore Dashboard. You can edit the header column names that you see in the Explore Dashboard by clicking "Columns" above the Segment Name. Choose the header names that are most important for you to see when filtering your data.

In order to gain insights about the people associated with your event you can utilize Filters. You can build and explore various segments using a variety of Filters.

1. Click 'Change Filters'

2. From the Filters window, you can select the different Attributes and Activities you would like to filter on. Check out the Glossary of Attributes and Activities for reference of what all of the different options mean.  For example, if we want to see how many people have visited the Feathr website our filter would look like the below:

Note: Click here for a list of common segments.

3. Once you select the filters you're interested in, click 'Ok'. You can see how many people are in this group by scrolling down and checking the number of entries.

4. If, after filtering, you decide this is a segment of users you want to target or monitor you can go ahead and Create a Segment based on your filter(s). For more insight on using Filters, take a look at the article Tips for Using Segment Filters and Predicates

Create a Segment

When you create a filter that organizes a group of users you know you want to monitor or target in a Campaigns, you can go ahead and directly create a Segment from this page.

Import Data

Note: Although you have the ability to import a Partner List in the Explore Dashboard, we recommend uploading your Partners straight from under your Event.

Manage Custom Data

If you've set up Custom Data tracking or have added Custom Variables to your Partners, you can see which fields are being passed through into your account under the Manage Custom Data button. From here you edit custom data by renaming or merging your fields.

Common Questions

Why should I create my segments from the Explore Dashboard and not from the Segment section of the app?
The Explore Dashboard allows you to preview what your segments will look like by allowing you to filter People. You will be able to see if the segment would have been created correctly by checking if you have an audience greater than zero.

Where can I learn more about Feathr's features?
We recommend starting with our "Getting Started" guide found in the help desk. You can find a lot of articles reviewing the new features here. There are plenty of resources for you to get all the answers you need, plus you always have your Customer Success Manager to help you!

Are all the names in the Explore Dashboard real? Who is "Chartreuse Parakeet"?
We generate placeholder names for People we don't have a name for yet. This is useful because it allows you to recognize and reference people coming to your site or seeing your ads repeatedly before you know who they are exactly. The placeholder names are made from a random combination of a color and a bird species name. "Teal Eagle" or "Coral Crow", for example. You can identify real names in your database because they will be displayed in Bold Text, whereas placeholder names use a regular typeface. Once we have a real name, the placeholder name will not be shown anymore and the Person will be known by their real name from that point on.
