Managing your audience data effectively is essential for maximizing the impact of your Feathr campaigns. Proper data management ensures successful outreach, accurate reporting, and streamlined processes. This guide walks you through foundational steps to clean, organize, and leverage your audience data for campaign success.
Understanding Audience Segmentation
Segmenting your audience allows you to tailor messages and initiatives. Feathr calls these segments Groups. Feathr enables you to create groups based on engagement history, demographics, and interests, all grouped up within the categories of Activity data or Person data. Use Groups to personalize communication, increase relevance, and improve ROI. Regularly review and update your segments to reflect evolving supporter behaviors and organizational priorities.
Keeping Data Clean and Relevant
- Deduplicate contacts before importing new lists.
- Regularly audit data for outdated or incorrect information.
- Utilize Custom Fields to import relevant information for marketing purposes. Feathr can accept Text, Date, True/False, and List fields.
- Subscription to multiple email lists should be represented in Feathr using a custom field for each list as a True/False. True is subscribed, False is not subscribed.
- When you import person records into the Community section of Feathr, you are opting those email addresses into receiving triggered email sends, like those from Auto Send and Drip campaigns. You can upload a list of Opt Out email addresses within the Community section as well.
Best Practices for Group Management
- Name Groups with informative descriptors. Having clear group names allows for anyone in your organization to understand exactly what kind of audience members are in the Group.
- Tag your groups to categorize them in ways that make finding them easy. As you continue to use Feathr, your numbers of Groups will increase and sorting through them to find the right group becomes more difficult without tags.
Leveraging Data for Campaign Performance
Analyze engagement data within Feathr to identify trends, refine audience segments, and strategically allocate resources. A/B test repeatable projects, flights, individual campaigns, and even creatives themselves. Consistently measuring performance helps you align campaigns with your nonprofit’s mission and ensures a measurable uptick in engagement and conversions.
