Disclaimer: If you wish to target an Email, check out our article How to Target an Email List in an Ad Campaign. Only Feathr CRM customers can import data they have on attendees and prospects to match with first and third party cookies and add another layer to their Feathr tracking using the steps below.

Format your list

Before you import your data to Feathr, you will need to organize it. Collect your data in a spreadsheet with each column dedicated to a different Attribute you want to record in Feathr. Read more about formatting your email list here.

Your spreadsheet should look something like the example below, with each column having a heading that denotes which Attribute is listed. Save your spreadsheet as an .xlsx or utf8-encoded .csv file then login to Feathr to import your data.

Import Data

To import your data file navigate to 'Explore', select 'Import Data', and then select 'People List'

For instructions on importing Partner Lists check out this article.

Name the import
The name you give your import will be used to create a unique tag to identify the group of users in this upload. You can search for this tag when creating a Segment to easily target these people.

Tags (Optional)
Add an additional tag to identify the people in this import with a broader group like exhibitor or attendee prospects. You can search for this tag when creating a Segment to easily target multiple related groups of users.

Upload your List File
Select your data file from the files on your computer before moving on to the next step.

Map your data

Map the column names of your data file to Feathr Person Attributes.

To make your data useable in Feathr, you need to tell us what your columns represent by mapping them to Feathr Person Attributes. If you are uploading a new custom attribute, click into the dropdown that says Choose an existing or new Attribute and type out the name of the new Attribute field. Press enter/return to save that field name. Then, you will need to select the way that data will be interpreted in the database by choosing "Text, Decimal, Date, True/False, Integer, List."

*Note: "Name" in Feathr is a user's first and last name together -- Feathr does not recognize first and last name as separate attributes.

When you're done mapping it should look something like the below:

For a full list of the Attributes Feathr tracks see Feathr's Glossary of Attributes and Activities.

Click 'Review' to review your imported data and confirm that all fields are mapped correctly.

Click 'Finish' to complete the Data Import.
